Hotpoint (Whirlpool group, with Ariston and Indesit) machines show F-codes such as F05. Hotpoint publishes a fault code table in its support articles.
| Code | Meaning | Severity | First action |
|---|---|---|---|
| F05 | Drain fault | Usually fixable at home | The pressure switch has not signalled an empty drum — water is not draining out. |
| F01 | Motor fault | Engineer needed | The motor is jammed, disconnected or not receiving power. |
| F03 | Heater/thermistor fault | Engineer needed | The water temperature reading is out of range — the thermistor (temperature sensor) or heater has failed. |
| F06 | Door lock fault | Usually fixable at home | The door is not detected as closed and locked. |
| F15 | Heating fault | Engineer needed | The control unit cannot switch the heater on — a heater relay or heater fault. |
Safety first
Unplug before any check. Never open panels beyond the filter flap. Anything involving internal wiring, the heater or gas must go to a professional — see each code page for its "call a professional when" line.
